ADVERTISE A BOOK
In Reading Workshop we had a really fun teaching point, where the kids had to read a book and then make an advertisement to get other kids, and adults to read the book. It was a real hands on activity, with many layers. I mean not only are they reading but they are learning marketing skills too .... :))))
Practicing in our Math Centers
After our Math lessons, we always have a little time for some educational math centers. The kids have a great time learning math in a more relaxed environment.
Math Practice
It is so amazing to watch second graders working together on solving math problems. The level of teamwork, and care towards each other is so great to see. After a mini math lesson, we work on practicing what we learn, and then we go to math centers. This was a lesson on addition with regrouping.
MAKING ROBOTS
In Science we spent a lot of time learning about the Properties of Matter. One of our final activities was to take various objects that we found around the class, such as: paper, card stock, pencils, crayons, makers, forks, knives, bows, etc and change their properties of matter by building a robot. The level of creativity was truly amazing.
NATIVE AMERICAN MASKS PART 2
After working so hard on the Native American Masks second grade created some really awesome, creative masks. Before they started making the masks we discussed what the significance of the masks are and that the ones they create should represent them. These amazing creations are hanging on our Social Studies bulletin board.
